January 2010 – Linda named - Businesswoman Entrepreneur of the Year.

More than 180 people attended the prestigious event where the 2009 East of England Businesswoman of the Year was officially declared. The award ceremony, at the Radisson Blu hotel, Stansted, lauded a host of impressive female finalists and saw accolades presented to businesswomen from across the region.

With Lloyds TSB Commercial as the main sponsor and the event hosted by the Suffolk branch of the Institute of Directors, the awards have become more hotly contested each year. This award recognises women who have founded their own business in the region and achieved appreciable growth with clear further potential. The judges said: “Linda’s entrepreneurial flair and inspirational leadership have created award-winning businesses that continue to raise professional standards”.

December 2009 - Achieved Investors in People Gold Recognition.

Gold represents achievement of world class best practice. It shows a truly cutting edge organisation operating at the very highest levels of people management practice using IIP to drive the business forward. As at July 2009 less than 1 in 1000 of recognised organisations achieved this and we are the first and only Children’s Nursery in the UK to ever achieve Gold!

June 2009 - Invitation to No.10 Downing Street.
Linda was invited by Gordon Brown to a Downing Street reception for 150 top-level entrepreneurs. She represented the education sector and was invited because of the organisations long track-record in training and work with Investors in People on the health and wellbeing at work good practice award.

June 2009 - The organisation achieved IIP Health at Work Good Practice Award.
Investors in People and the Department of Health believe that focus on health and wellbeing in the workplace can have a very positive impact for both employers and employees. The Good Practice Award helps employers to successfully address objectives relevant to their workplace around health and wellbeing.

Areas of particular strength:
A well embedded culture of supportive management for all staff which tailors and regularly adjusts the support to individual needs.
Involvement of all staff in planning and prioritising aims and objectives
including those for health and wellbeing.
Good use of frameworks for health and wellbeing to raise awareness
of the different subject areas it covers and to gain feedback so that actions can be prioritised.

August 2008 - the organisation received Cambridge Regional College Training and Development Award for Care Providers.
The Old School House received confirmation of their accreditation and achievement of the 10 QWEST standards as set out by the college.

June 2007 - Finalist in the National Day Nursery of the Year Award.
The Old School House was one of the country’s top 14 in a competition based on parents votes. To be shortlisted for this accolade recognises exceptional care the nurseries and people in them provide to children and families.

2006 - NDNA Member Champion Award
Linda was named as Member Champion in recognition for her dedication and commitment to the sector.

2005 - Finalists in the Nursery Management Today Nursery Training and Development Awards.
The TLC training team were delighted and very proud to be shortlisted as 1 of 3 finalists in the coveted NMT awards. The team celebrated at the award ceremony in London.

November 2003 - National Day Nurseries Association Quality Counts Kite-mark.
The organisation scooped the prestigious early years sector award after completing the organisations quality accreditation scheme. The Old School House was one of only 24-Day Nurseries in the country who were the first to receive the award (The first nursery in East Anglia). The organisation was reaccredited in September 2005 gaining level 3, the highest level.

May 2000 - Investors in People.
The Investors in People 'Profile' review is now used for its benchmarking data and feedback potential. The organisation also gained Investors in People Leadership & Management Model. Investors in People put the spotlight on the effectiveness of induction and skills training with more sophisticated evaluation to measure outputs against strategic goals, this resulted The Old School House becoming selected as the UK`s first organisation and only nursery to be named as one of the Investors in People Champions in July 2004. The success demonstrated that nurseries were not locked into their own small niche but could function and be compared with businesses in the wider world.
1996 – The Rural Development Commission commended The Old School House for its excellence. The Old School House was selected as a centre of excellence in developing rural childcare. Linda and Ian were invited to a reception at the House of Commons hosted by Tessa Jowel MP and Paul Tyler CBE MP.
